Cohesion Day @ ECP

Friday was our long-awaited and much anticipated COHESION DAY! for once we could really say GUARDROOM CLOSED :D thanks to junwei and samuel for their 24-hour duty which frees us up for our cohesion day! Our cohesion day was at east coast park.

Met jeremy, harry and weetit at j8 to set off for ECP together. Jeremy gave me my bday prezzie which was a set of towels. i realised i forgot to bring towels so his bday gift would prolly come in handy later... hmm... Anyway, Harry just rushed down from his interview for a job at the zoo and we waited for him to buy lunch before setting off. Along the way he was telling us the job scope for the job which he was applying for, which includes stuff like having to feed the animals and clean up the place. OMG imagine all the animal dung hahas. i think the job sounds interesting but i think ill be bored of that easily cos theres alot of routine chores to do :S On our way to ECP we bypassed VJC and coincidentally jeremy and i were talking about keely so i suggested going in to find her since it was a school day hahas :D

after alighting the bus (missed a stop), we went thru an underpass to ECP and started looking for our pit. Finally found the lot of them all waiting for us hahas. FSM came by to speak to us too. Then we went biking and it was quite fun competing with each other hahas. We then went to bedok jetty where there were lots of people fishing. I borrowed a rod (with a caught fish) and posed for a pic of me catching a real fish :D

We then headed back to the BBQ pit to barbecue our food. Before we could start, it began drizzling and ronn suggested that it was the right time to do something. Hahas actually i sort of expected it and tried to run but was too late. I struggled a bit but everyone was like restraining me so I got tossed into the sea hahas. Anyway after that, the drizzling stopped and we resumed our BBQ. The food was quite nice just that the spicy food was really super spicy. eugene came later in the evening and gave me a bday gift too which was a cute cup (: ronn also gave me an angpow as the guardroom gift.

After the food was ready, we began playing cards. I played a few rounds of bridge and then after that we started playing blackjack. hahas. got average luck. got a few go-lengs but in the end my total profit was -$1. after that, it started drizzling again so we headed into a pavillion. They then lit the candles of my bday cake and invited me to the centre.

I suspected something fishy and wanted to leave but then i was once again restrained and brought into the centre, facing the bday cake. They then sang a bday song for me and got me to blow out the candles. eugene broke one of the candles after that and said that i have to use my mouth to pick out the candle. hahas i knew what was going to happen after that but was forced to play along. while bending over to pick the candle, my face was smashed into the cake hahas. what a waste rite! after that the culprits all ran away and i chased them around and tried to cake them hahas. realised i prolly looked quite disastrous running around the park with cake all over my face and hair. in the end i successfully caked the culprits but caked some innocent people along the way hahas :P after that i was tossed into the sea yet again LOL. this time i was tossed both on the beach and in the sea, so i was sandy all over :S

after that we started assaulting random people. everytime we called for an end, the game never really ended and people were still assaulted unexpectedly hahas. finally when everyone was all tired out, the victims went to have a bath to change out into clean dry clothing HAHA. I can't imagine what would have happened to me if I hadn't received Jeremy's gift! Thanks for your most practical gift (:

after the shower, we left ECP. harry, weetit, wenwei and i followed eugene in his car. went bishan for supper before eugene fetched us back home (cos it was past midnight alr). thanks eugene for fetching me almost literally to my doorsteps (: and thanks to all of you who have made this cohesion-cum-birthday celebration a smash (literally) :P i certainly enjoyed it and it was a really memorable bday celebration (: thank you!

more driving blunders

2 consecutive days of driving. today wasnt any better. still stalled once or twice. and i am having difficulties multitasking. have to look in mirrors, look at blind spot, and for me, i am afraid that i will speed so i keep glancing at meter. and when i do these, i will unknowingly steer out of my lane, sometimes driving in the middle of 2 lanes or almost hitting the kerb. another 2 near accidents today.

first one was when i was executing a turn. for some reason, i have a tendency to step on the accelerator while turning and so happened someone was wheeling his bike across the road. thankfully my instructor pulled the handbrake in time.

the second one was not my fault. i was going to stop before a traffic light and there was less than a vehicle's space between my vehicle and the vehicle in front and suddenly one car just attempted to cut into the space. the car ended up having to stop with half of the body in one lane and the other half in another lane. once again, my instructor prevented an accident by pulling the handbrake.

ok but at least today was fun cos i finally progressed to 4th gear and got to learn some u-turning. quite fast for a 3rd lesson huh. but my instructor wanted to teach me a few things at one go so that i wont be bored practising one technique only. i can like practise a few things simultaneously for the next few lessons hahas. think he is too used to teaching people with driving talents loh. for driving noobs like me he should really do things 1 step at a time hahas. :/

after driving lesson, took a bus ride to j8 then went to borrow some books. suddenly felt like reading some catherine lim books so i borrowed a few at a shot hahas. hopefully ill have some time to finish reading them all, since im going to clear off the next few weeks :D

Driving!

went for driving again today hahas. didnt stall as much but was still fumbling around with the gear and steering wheel and stuff and almost collided with a taxi cos i changed lanes without looking at my blind spot. omg i just realised theres so much to take note of while driving! arghhhh. going for another lesson tmr morning. :/ Still a little traumatised by the near accident today booo.

it had been a hectic week ever since i came back from the long CNY hols. ever since monday, we had endless chores to do and endless events to prepare despite the shortage of manpower. lots of last minute instructions too, and work was expected to be done on short term notice. everyone was just plain tired and morale was low, cos everyone havent properly switched from holiday mood to working mood yet.

had AOS on fri, possibly my last AOS for a while if i get posted out. after my duty, stayed back in camp waiting for mobilisation but the notice didnt seem to come so i went home. waited the whole day for activation notice but no such notice came. in a way i am happy cos i dint have to rush back to camp, but im now a little worried that activation will be tmr. my driving lesson is scheduled on tmr morning, and my longhubang is after that. then i have to get a haircut. basically i was all prepared for mobilisation today and had plans on sunday alr. pls pls pls lets not have any mobilisation at all.

anw, i recently got hooked on this song by valen hsu. another wonderful piece by jay + fangwenshan, which explains the nice lyrics and tune.

CNY!

haha havent been blogging for a while so i shall catch up with my blogging today. on CNY eve, went DB to escort a detainee out. it was a really interesting experience visiting there. after that, went for CNY celeb at HQ then went home. in the evening, we had reunion dinner and after that we played poker. was super lucky on that day and got lots of good hands like straights, houses and three of a kinds. within like half an hr i got a hand of three 7s twice. after my relatives left, my family did some final touchups to area cleaning.

the next day was CNY! (: however, the new year didnt start on a good note. i woke up feeling quite sick. had a mild fever and felt a little dizzy. still went out anyway as i figured i probably need to walk around abit and breathe some morning air to get better. went around visiting my immediate relatives and i was walking around like some zombie cos i kept feeling faint. my fever escalated over the morning and afternoon, and i kept feeling like i wanted to vomit hahas. i was also sleeping alot at all my relatives' houses. sigh, if i had those illnesses on any other day i would have easily gotten an ATT C lohs hahas. anw, my family went home in the late afternoon for a short break. i quickly took some panadol when i reached home hoping that my fever would subside soon.

in the evening, we went to my aunt's house for dinner. however, just before leaving my house, i suddenly had diarrhoea. bleahh so suay right hahas. and im supposed to be "fu xing gao zhao" this yr. right -_-" ok anyway watched "i do i do" at my aunts place and then played blackjack after that. my shou3 qi4 that day was so so lah. kept hovering around the break even point. won a little only hahas. one of my poor cousins lost close to a hundred though.

i felt much better on day 2. my fever was gone, and i was recovering from the diarrhoea. anyway, my family continued visiting a few more relatives. one of my aunts gave me 2 red packets - one for CNY and one for my birthday lol. it was only after she pointed out that i realised that my birthday on the chinese calendar falls on valentines day this year. later that night, went to my dad's friends house again and had another gambling session but without involving money hahas. guess thats about all the gambling im going to get in a while...

on day 3, my mum invited my relatives over for lunch. after lunch, played some games like connect 4 and mastermind with my cousin. hahas quite fun to play board games since i havent touched them for a while already. after that, my cousin went around exploring my room and accidentally drew on my laptop with a permanent marker. zomg. haha was quite pissed but thankfully my dad managed to remove the stain with thinner.

finally, on today, woke up and continued watching my dong you ji. hahas. its an old show but i found it quite nice so i started watching again 2 weeks back. didnt get to continue watching until today cos i was so busy. and thats how i spent my long weekend. quite sad that it is ending so soon thoughh... boohoo. how i wished the holiday would be longer. not in a mood to go back to work hahas

一层一层一层

had my first driving lesson today and i feel damn CMI ok. kept stalling and consecutively stalled twice in front of a traffic light. my braking also super jerky. kinda regretted taking manual. got so much to handle :/ plus it was raining semi-heavily too. sighh wad a first lesson. dint feel like i was any better at driving at the end of the lesson lol.

then went to have dinner with my relatives at han river. ate tons of food hahas, most notably my fave crab. and it was buffet styled some more! the dinner just nullified my exercise last night thoughh.

anw congrats to xin wo for 3 x champion on charts today. and congrats to yang cong getting into charts today :D the lyrics are nice cos they are metaphorical and actually has much, so u have to "yi ceng yi ceng yi ceng de" slowly understand the meaning. :D

Quick update: Thur - Sat

on thur, i took a day off to get a good break cos i was going to have 2 consecutive saturdays burned. went to settle some of the cambridge forms then went back to school to ask my teacher to complete a portion of one form for me. WOW the school looks really different now with all the construction works going on. now the staff room is super inaccessible cos a staff lounge blocks the path from the classroom block to the staff room. so to get to the staff rm from the classroom block at level 3, u have to go up to level 4, walk all the way to the rightmost lift then take it down to level 3. there are also other random constructions. the small canteen is gone, the photocopy machine shifted and level 7 classrooms are being worked on for some reason.

anyway, met ms wang and talked to her a while. tried to find cheekie but he was busy. left to borrow some books at the library and also to make my ATM card hahas.

went back guardroom on fri and stayed in cos i have AOS duty on sat. watched a scary movie called office you gui and freaked out halfway and stopped watching ok. i really couldnt continue watching anymore. damn weak right. it was some low budget movie but i was still freaked out. then went up to my bunk. realised my lvl 5 bunk is really scary cos i was sleeping alone. really alone, cos evry1 else has booked out. was really super freaked out and couldnt sleep well.

nxt day was AOS. turned out to be a semi-busy duty, but it was ok cos i chionged some movies at night. watched a super old stephen chow movie, 007, which features gigi as well. was really super funny watching how stephen chow tries to pull various stunts :P
